Guidelines for Authors
Submission of articles on subjects with relevance (multidisciplinary) to the journal is welcomed. JSSM publish 12 issues per year (January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December). Upon request to the editorial team members, the journal may publish issues that will complement the six issues each year. The submission should adhere to our guidelines in the template.
The manuscripts are preferably written in English but when written in another language (Eg: Malay), provision of English title, abstract and keywords are compulsory. Kindly place all submissions into ScholarOne at https://mc04.manuscriptcentral.com/jsusm
Manuscripts are accepted on the understanding that they have not been and will not be published elsewhere. All submissions will be peer-reviewed. The editors have the final decision on publication. Accepted manuscripts become the copyright of the journal. In 2019, the journal published all manuscripts with an eISSN number.
Turnitin similarity must be below 20%.
Double-Blind Peer Review Guidelines
This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.
To facilitate this, authors need to ensure that their manuscripts are prepared in a way that does not give away their identity. To help with this preparation please ensure the following when submitting to Journal of Sustainability and Science Management:
- Submit the Title Page containing the Authors details and Blinded Manuscript with no author details as two separate files.
Information to help prepare the Title Page
This should include the title, authors’ names, affiliations, a complete address for the corresponding author and e-mail address. Acknowledgements, authors’ contributions and conflict of interest statements is also placed on this page. Download JSSM title page template for better assistance.
Information to help prepare the Blinded Manuscript
There are other steps that need to be taken to ensure the manuscript is correctly prepared for double-blind peer review. To assist with this process the key items that need to be observed can be downloaded on the main page as JSSM paper template where authors can replace items with their original contents before submitting the files.
The manuscript that is accepted to publish in this journal will be charged USD300.00.
All submissions accepted for publication after February 10, 2021 will need to pay for the fee above.
PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS
JSSM accepts research/original article, short communication, letter to editor, monograph and review article. All paper should adhere to the scope and policy of JSSM and should relate to social sustainability and management.
Manuscripts should be typed (with a wide margin and double-spaced, Times New Roman (Font 12) on one side of A4 (30 x 21 cm) paper. A full-length research paper is between 8,000 to 15,000 words, a review paper may range between 8,000 to 20,000 words, short communication, monograph or commentary is about 2,000 to 3,000 words, letter to editor is less than 2,000 words, and book review is about 500 to 1,000 words.
In the text, scientific names should be italicised; do not underline any words. Avoid excessive use of italics to emphasize text. In general, manuscripts should be organised in the following order:
Research/Original Article
Title (should be clear, descriptive and concise)
Name of authors
Complete postal address of affiliations
E-mail address of the corresponding author
Abstract
Keywords (indexing terms): Sustainability (must include this word), 3-5 items
Introduction
Material studied, area descriptions, methods and techniques
Results and discussion
Conclusion
Acknowledgements (additional information concerning research grants)
References
Review Article (It does not have a method or result section, no study to describe & no data to be analysed)
Title (should be clear, descriptive and concise)
Introduction (where the topic or problem is introduced & previous research is described)
Discussion (main points are discussed)
Conclusion (article’s strengths & weaknesses)
